Duchess of Cambridge was spotted during Wimbledon wearing the same Alexander McQueen dress as exactly year ago on the official visit in Canada. And she wore exactly the same shoes as year ago: navy suede LK Bennett courts. So what?
We wear the same clothes all the time. Why should she be different? She’s a normal woman turned royalty; and this is her strength. She’s closer to her people when she doesn’t pretend to be someone else. A wardrobe full of the latest designer pieces is not her style. Her style is style not fashion.
By wearing the same clothes over and over she shows all the women in UK that it’s ok not to follow trends and not to be a slave to fashion. She shows them that style is about knowing who you are and showing it in your clothes. And let’s remember that style is forever not only for 3 months. We shouldn’t feel pressured to constantly reinvent ourselves and therefore our wardrobes every time a new collection arrives in stores. It’s ok to reinvent parts of ourselves every 3 months and then show it in a couple of new blouses and a pair of shoes. And then every few years we change more drastically which prompts us to declutter our wardrobe and create a new look.
So instead of questioning Kate’s outfit choices, let’s look at the message she’s communicating to all the women in UK. She says: ‘Believe in yourself and be happy with who you are’.
